We have a variety of volunteer opportunities for you, below are just a few examples.

  • Thanksgiving Baskets – Put together a basket of Thanksgiving food and a $20 supermarket gift card for the turkey. Click here for a list of suggested items to purchase. Call for details in October.
  • Holiday Adopt-A-Family Program – Fulfill the wish lists of our children. Call for information in October. (We also need AA and AAA batteries, gift wrap, bows, tape and decorations.)
  • Easter and Passover ProjectCollect grocery gift cards to Key Food, King Kullen, ShopRite, and Stop&Shop so our families may have a special holiday meal.
  • Coloring Book Drive – Collect new coloring books and crayons for our kids in the hospital.
  • Birthday Program – Collect items for our birthday toy pantry. Call for wish list of gifts.
  • School Supplies Project Collect school supplies and backpacks. All year round. 
  • Meghan and The Dimes - Inspired by a Friends of Karen child. Read more here.
  • Coin Harvest – Organize and run a loose change collection to benefit Friends of Karen or recycle cans and bottles and donate the change to Friends of Karen.
  • Gift Certificate Drive – collect $5 gift certificates to Au Bon Pain, Cafe Metro, Dunkin’ Donuts, Fresh and Co., Panera, Subway, and Starbucks.
  • Tag Sale – Turn your junk into treasure and organize a tag sale to benefit Friends of Karen. We’ll start you off with a box of tag sale “stuff.”
  • Dress-Down DayCharge staff or students for the opportunity to “dress down” for the day.
