Every day, Friends of Karen is a lifeline of support for hundreds of NY tri-state area families caring for a critically ill child, providing financial, emotional and practical day-to-day assistance they so desperately need to cope during this difficult time.

 

With your help, shopping for the holidays will be one less thing these parents have to stress about. Help Friends of Karen spread the holiday spirit to close to 1,000 children this season.

 

“Each of our children sends us their wish list, and we match each child with a kind-hearted ‘elf’ who purchases one or more of the items on the list,” says Volunteer Coordinator, Denise Tredwell, who organizes the program. “Every child looks forward to the holidays, but when parents are caring for a child with a life-threatening illness, there’s no time for shopping or even thinking about gifts. We want them to have joyful memories, even in the midst of illness.”
