Cell Day 3-16-17
My body is shaking with the waiting. I left the room at 6:30 this morning. Kissed my sweet Luke and headed to the surgery reception to meet my baby girl! That is where we are now. Sitting, praying and waiting ...I need to hear she is out.
Luke, I told you I would be with you every minute through this. I would never leave you. I hate to walk away from you when you need me so badly. How? How can I make this right? I need to be in two places. My babies both need me. Mom, you are our angel. I know that my little boy is in the best hands possible. "Grandma Marinara"...(silly story!!) you have given us your help, your strength, your love and it has come in so many different forms. We are forever grateful.
Grace, you are our hero! You have brought light and love and hope. You are our heart.
I cried when the Dr. came out to tell me everything went great. This was another step toward the finish line. We returned to the room and the doctors came in shortly after to push the cord blood through Luke's tubes. The team showed up with gifts, a sign and a special medal for Luke. Later the doctors returned to push the new cells. It was a special moment in itself but it was so much more than that. It is a new beginning. It is a chance for Luke to live the life that he was given ... to smile, laugh and love. My little boy now has 3 birthdays! Happy Cell Day Luke 3-16-17!
