Grandma to the rescue! My mom, an angel in disguise, has been by our side every step of the way. She worked her special powers and magically Luke was sitting up, playing one game after another. They even built a pinball machine and practiced magic tricks. The next 2 days of the ATG were much more tolerable.
Just when I thought I couldn't wait another second...I saw the cutest little ray of sunshine through the window. Grace and I hugged each other as tight as we could. The cutest little "mommy" came out of her mouth and made my heart smile. We spent the rest of the day doing the family shuffle. Rotating between the hotel and the hospital. I spent some time with Grace but before I could blink she was heading back to NY...a day early. She has a cough and cold. The doctors do not want me to catch anything that may be given to Luke. Not to mention, our hero in disguise will be giving her marrow on Thursday.
I can't be with Grace right now but Luke gave me the one other thing I needed! A hug! A real squeeze that I had probably taken for granted at some point but missed more than anything. He wrote out "I Love Mom" with his play-doh. I can do this! That glimpse of him that I have been missing gave me mountains of strength. We feel so much love and we are not alone. Thank you Team Luke! Thank you for helping us through this journey.
