This event has passed. Please enjoy some photos from our 2019 event.
This two day event begins Saturday, September 21st, at 8am and ends the following day, Sunday, September 22nd, at 2:00pm.
Join riders for an awesome bike ride through Connecticut’s countryside for Friends of Karen’s 15th Annual Journey of the Heart Bike Tour. The ride will raise funds to support hundreds of families throughout the New York Tri-State region struggling to care for their child diagnosed with cancer or any other life-threatening illness. On Saturday (basic route 51.2 miles, extended route, 74.4 miles), we ride from The Bicycle Tour Company’s Headquarters in Kent, CT on rolling country roads to the Harlem Valley Rail Trail and Millerton. For lunch, we stop at Salisbury’s White Hart Inn; offering dishes highlighting seasonal ingredients sourced from nearby farms. After biking back to Kent, we drive to The Heritage Hotel for a dip in the pool (and hot tub), a massage at the Heritage Spa and a hearty dinner.
On Sunday (28.1 miles) we follow the route of Rochambeau’s 1781 French Army, and ride along the Housatonic River; through the New England countryside, cycling past miles of stone walls, farms and rolling fields. We return for a barbeque lunch at The Heritage Hotel before heading home after an inspiring weekend of riding! Accommodations for the bike tour are at the Heritage Hotel, 522 Heritage Road, Southbury, Connecticut.
