How has Covid19 affected your work with families?

Many Social Workers have had to make changes in the way they work with families since the start of this pandemic. As for me working with families has had its drawbacks and benefits. Most of my work is now done via the phone or online using Zoom. Some of the drawbacks have been with families that do not have access to a computer or a smart phone that will allow for virtual zoom sessions as well as patient privacy and technical issues. On the flip side the benefits have outweighed the drawbacks. I have been able to meet more often with families via phone sessions/zoom session since the start of the pandemic. We are not presently conducting home/hospital visits as many of our children are immune compromised. Since we are no longer driving or riding the subway to see children in their homes this has allowed us to provide extra support to those that need it during  these challenging times.
