How does your work as a social worker at Friends of Karen break barriers to care?

As a social worker at Friends of Karen what breaking barriers means to me is caring about the families, we serve each day. As their social worker I am there to listen to their concerns as they are faced with the awful news of “your child has cancer”. I also find that being a bilingual social worker helps break barriers to care to the non-English speaking families as they open up more when they hear you speak their language as it makes them feel comfortable.
