Marketing and Communications Manager
Friends of Karen, a nonprofit in northern Westchester County, is looking for a passionate, strategic, and creative Marketing and Communications Manager to help us tell our story, expand our reach, and engage our audience. Our mission is to support the needs of families in the New York metro area who have a child with a life-threatening illness, through financial, emotional and advocacy support. Our team of licensed Social Workers, Art Therapists and Child Life Specialists work tirelessly to help families stay stable, functioning and able to cope and each family has their own special and unique story that needs to be shared in a compassionate manner.
The candidate for this position will be responsible for leading and implementing marketing, communications and outreach efforts for Friends of Karen. This includes marketing materials, branding social media and projects that support fundraising and gifts campaigns, family support programming, and general information related to the organization. This position plays a critical role in elevating Friends of Karen’s visibility, programs and fundraising initiatives (other than those related to special and community events) through digital, print and media platforms. The ideal candidate brings creativity, strong project management abilities, graphics and desktop publishing skills are a must. She/he should possess excellent writing skills and a passion for Friends of Karen’s mission. The Marketing and Communications Manager will coordinate with the Philanthropy and Event Marketing Manager who handles all marketing and communications for special and community events
Along with a passion for Friends of Karen’s mission, the qualifications for this position include:
- A Bachelor’s degree, with 3-5 years’ experience in marketing, communications or related work; nonprofit experience a plus.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in digital marketing platforms (e.g. Constant Contact, social media management tools).
- Collaborative work style.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Availability for limited local travel and the ability to work occasional evenings to attend events.
Friends of Karen offers a hybrid working environment. The salary range for this position is $78,000-$88,000. Benefits include health, dental and life insurance, as well as a Flexible Spending Account. A non-matching employer 403b is available.
