A Valentine with Love from Friends of Karen’s Children
Love it or loathe it, Valentine’s Day is upon us. Difficult times may elicit a range of reactions among the families we work with at Friends of Karen, but fierce love is always the common denominator. We have the privilege to witness acts of love big and small on a daily basis and we can’t resist an opportunity to celebrate love in all its forms.
Our Sibling Support Specialists created this poem with past and current Friends of Karen children to craft a beautiful and sometimes silly love poem. Please enjoy the sweet poetry written by our favorite valentines. We hope it warms your heart on the coldest days of the season.
Love is...
A smile from my dad when I’m scared…
My mom’s homemade brownies…
Friends and family, cousins and people who care…
Love is about getting hugs and holding hands…
Love is watching the snowfall outside…
Love is when our hearts are connected to others…
Baking…
Family dinners with familiar faces and our favorite foods…
Soccer and Sonic the hedgehog…
Love is feeling how much people care…
When someone is a good person to us…
Our pets! Toto my doggy, Peanut and Snowball
Friendship…
Love is when my aunt braids my hair when my mom can’t…
Facetime from the hospital even when we are apart…
Love is feeling like you belong…
Love is beautiful…
Special…
For everyone…
Love is Bad Bunny and basketball…
Love is big hugs and secret handshakes…
Snuggly movie nights and dance parties in the kitchen..
Love is food… Pasta, Wendy’s, McDonalds, cheese, vegetables , candy and pizza!
Days at the beach and pools on a summer day…
Love is a warm feeling inside…
The sound of a lullabye…
We show our love by telling people we love them, showing respect and kindness and not saying bad words..
Love feels good…
Love feels safe…
Love is everything.
