Mother’s Day 2024: More time to Mother
The Friends of Karen Family Support Team develop strong bonds with the families they work with through the span of many months and at times years. Though every family is unique and we view each member of the family as special, the boundless love and strength of the mothers inspire our continuous and steadfast support. We know that so often the moms are the “motherships” of the families; leading, serving and meeting the needs of everyone. When a devastating diagnosis affects the family, it is our privilege to be the ones to offer them support so they have more time to love, more time to care and more time to mother.
This Mother’s Day we honor the fierce mama bear love we see from these inspiring women.
To the mothers in the early days of diagnosis and the trenches of treatment…
We see you spending long days and nights at the hospital…
countless doctors appointments…
the sleepless nights filled with worry…
the kissing of boo boos and the bear hugs…
finding moments of normalcy and happiness with your family…
Advocating for your kids…
Trying to make lemonade out of lemons…
Making sure that teeth are brushed and bellies are full and homework is done…
Making sure your children know how loved they truly are..
We celebrate you.
To the mothers of survivors…
We see you navigating a new normal and challenges…
Back to school..reentering routines…
Exhaling with relief while feeling the after shock of a most challenging time…
Infusing your children’s lives with celebration, joy and love…
We celebrate you.
To the mothers who are grieving…
We see the pain of your unimaginable loss…
We see how you honor the lives of your precious children and carry them in your hearts, always.
We see how you loved your child so well, and know that you will forever be their mother.
We celebrate you.
Joy and grief…frustration and peace… giggles and noise. All of it.
Motherhood and Mother’s Day kicks up a lot of feelings for so many. Thinking of those who for today is bittersweet or just plain hard- wishing you peace or comfort or whatever your heart needs. Miracles happen, pain softens and we’re all just trying to figure it out with as much grace and laughter as we can. The Friends of Karen mamas taught us that.
